REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

 

FEBRUARY 8, 2017

 

 

 

Mayor Jon Mosier called the Regular City Council Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Council present were Ryan Archibald, Marilyn Mundorf, Scott Anderson, with Marvin Bradfield absent.  Approved the agenda.  Approved the consent agenda.   

 

 

 

Johnson reported Dale Anderson resigned from the Library Board.  Written report submitted for the Heritage Center.  T. Erickson reported repairs needed to trucks.  Pope reported the 1st Responders By-Laws were amended to include Cass County residents. Approved Julie Kline, Julie Brandt, Mechelle Ficek and Linda Taulborg as members of the Lewis First Responders.  Approved the purchase of a water pump for Public Works.

 

 

 

During Public Comments, Betty Auten asked to be put on the agenda next month to discuss some maintenance issues at the Activity Center.

 

 

 

Approved RESOLUTION 2017-6  Appointing Ryan Lockwood to fill the Council seat vacated by Kristy Bassett January 5, 2017 with a term expiring December 31, 2019.   Mosier gave the Oath of Office to Lockwood and welcomed him to the City Council.

 

 

 

Approved RESOLUTION 2017-7  Mayoral Appointments 

 

Approved RESOLUTION 2017-8  Employee Wages for 2017. 

 

Approved the first reading of Ordinance 2017-1 TITLE III – COMMUNITY PROTECTION, CHAPTER 3, AMENDED FLOODPLAIN ORDINANCE.  Per Iowa Department of Natural Resources and FEMA.

 

 

 

Approved a contract with SWIPCO to recodify the City Ordinance as required by law. 

 

 

 

The Oakwood Cemetery Trustee Board members addressed the Council regarding the financials of the Cemetery.  It was the consensus of the Council to continue to give the yearly donation of $2,000.

 

 

 

Set the FY 18 City Budget Hearing for March 8th at 7:00 PM. 

 

 

 

Approved the preliminary study of infrastructure projects with SEH.  All Ayes

 

 

 

Approved the extension request of Charles Marker’s abatement properties at 405 & 407 Minnesota Street to April 12th and for City Attorney Tad Wonio to send the drafted letter to Marker.
